From a Designer’s Perspective

Web Design Essentials

The Web Design Essentials section is dedicated to my opinions, as a designer, about design, or more specifically, about web design. This section also includes helpful goodies, like the Designer’s Handbook of Colors or references, like screen resolution statistics.

There are countless views and opinions on how things should be done. I will only write about mine, and I will do so because I haven’t found any other site that says everything I need to say.

There are standards that need to be adhered to, and any good designer will always strive to do so, but that is a two-sided coin. Conforming to standards can be helpful, but it can also lead the designer back to do ‘what works’ – once again. True creativity and the beauty of designing extra-ordinary things easily become a secondary issue.
The design section of this site will provide information on what can be done, what shouldn’t be done, what needs to be considered and why. It may be helpful to imminent designers, prospective clients and others, including myself.

Respect copyrights I categorically disagree that ‘imitation is the sincerest (form) of flattery’, as said by Colton. That is what inspiration should be. Respect the copyrights and intellectual properties of others and find that spark within yourself. Inspiration is beautiful. Imitation is not.
